At 1:00 AM Jason and I were awoken by Shylee crying uncontrollably. As soon as I picked her up out of her crib I realized that she had a fever. We took her temperature and it was 102.6 degrees. Shylee has been fighting a UTI for 6 days. This included taking antibiotics. Jason and I weren't sure why she was getting a fever after 6 days of taking medicine, so we decided to take her to the emergency room. When we got there, her fever had dropped slightly to 101.8, but her heart rate was at 225 beats per minute. This is approximately 100 bpm OVER what it should have been. Of course this worried the ER staff, so they immediately gave her Motrin for her fever and did everything they could to get her to relax. After about an hour, she was able to calm down and her fever broke. After reviewing her past medical history, they decided it would be best to admit her to the hospital for some IV antibiotics and observation. We arrived at Primary Children's at 5:50 AM. Due to her admittance to the hospital, my parents flew home from their vacation in order to be at the hospital by 10:30 AM. They were/are a HUGE help and Shylee was glad to have them there. At this point, Shylee had gotten approximately 2 hours of sleep since 1 AM. She was absolutely exhausted, but she had a very hard time falling asleep. Her fever kept coming and going throughout the day, but after observation from the staff, we were able to go home around 6:00 PM. She did have a fever of 102.7 degrees at this point, but they had determined that the fever was not due to the UTI, but some sort of viral infection. Her ears are a little red and her throat is red. She also has swollen lymph-nodes in her neck. She unfortunately has lost a couple of pounds due to her sore throat. We received several compliments from the ER and Primary Children's staff regarding Shylee. Despite not feeling well, being exhausted, and having an IV in her arm, she was generally very happy as long as she did not have a high fever. Once we got home, Shylee's attitude and happiness shifted dramatically. Although she didn't feel well, she was home and somewhere comfortable. We will continue to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin in order to keep her fever down and we have a follow up appointment with her pediatrician on Wednesday. I feel so bad for my little girl, but she is such a trooper. Here are a couple of pictures from our rough day.
Finally able to sleep (for about 45 minutes)
A wagon ride to get out of the room
She decided that laying down was much more comfortable

It's been a while....
I haven't posted anything in a while. Things are great here at the Johnson household. We have done a little bit of re-decorating in our living room. Things are a lot more organized. I love it! I am now down to working 20 hours a week, which means more time with my adorable Shylee! Jason is doing great at i365. It was a great move for him. Shylee is growing and learning like crazy. She is able to say a lot of words now. She says mama, dada, ball, please, bath, up, wow, yeah, no, grandpa, bubba, baby, chicken (kind of) and juice. She is able to stand up on her own and she loves to walk with assistance, but she is still a little hesitant to attempt it on her own. She is able to point out features such as eyes, mouth, and nose. She is also able to point out specific toys based on their name (i.e., duck, fish, bunny) She LOVES playing peek-a-boo and she is recently obsessed with wipes! She cannot get her diaper changed without getting a wipe of her own. She has a mouth full of teeth and loves to eat regular food. Her favorites are waffles, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and mandarin oranges. She is a ball of energy and always on the go. Here are a few updated pictures of our beautiful girl:

One year already!?
“Making the decision to have a child - It's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”- Elizabeth Stone
On August 14, 2010 @ 2:24 A.M. our lives changed forever. Jason and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Shylee Lori Johnson, into this world. She has brought more joy into our lives than I ever thought possible. It's amazing to look back and see everything that she has learned in the past year. We couldn't ask for a better child.

2 weeks later...
Well here is my 2nd update. I missed two days of bike riding this last week, but I still rode 5 days. I was able to achieve my goal of 5 miles every time I rode. I think that I will continue the 5 miles rides for at least one more week. My time has gotten a little better, but I want to get a little bit faster. I have also stuck to doing Zumba at least 3 times a week.
Anyway, I did not lose any weight this past week but I am hopeful that it's just from gaining muscle because I did lose 3 1/2 more inches. That makes a total of 9 inches in two weeks.

The Results are in....
It's been a week since I started my exercising and diet. So far I have been able to stick to my original plan of following Weight Watchers and working out 7 days a week. I rode my bike every day and I am up to 4 miles in 20 minutes. My miles are already getting faster each time I go out, so I am going to add another mile this week. I also did Zumba 3 times during the week. So now that I have told you about my diet and exercise, it's time for the results of my hard work.
I have lost 2.2 pounds and a total of 5 1/2 inches!!! This is so exciting to me! I am the type of person that needs to see results in order to stay motivated.

Coupons!!!!
I finally did it! I took advantage of my coupons and "price matching" last night. I spent $113 on $177 of groceries! That means that I saved $64 just by clipping coupons and looking at other store ads! Here are some pictures!
